Welkom...

Welcome to BrechtRyckaert.be.

On my little blog I will be posting some tech-related stuff... Although I still considder myself a huge Linux-noob, I love the logic of this operating system.
Besides Linux, I can state, without any doubt possible, that I am one of the biggest gadget-freaks in the vincinity.

Goodbye Google Adsense…

I’m through with Google’s Adsense service, as it is an unreliable partner for publishers to use.

I’ve opened an Adsense account for my company Mediagraaf earlier this summer and used Adsense to create some ads on this website. Since I’ve dealt with Google Adsense before, I’m aware of the fact that I’m not allowed (yeah DUH…) to click on my own ads. So you just don’t do that. Ever.

Nor did I, however, a few days ago I received a nice little mail from Google’s Adsense team stating my account was disabled due to illegal clicking activities. Since I am the only person working on this site I am perfectly able to verify wether or not I have clicked an ad.

This kind of situations (I’m far from the first person to experience this) makes Google Adsense a highly unreliable partner when looking for a service provider for ads. This is really really sad, because the system itself is really nice. You just cannot rely on it.

Bummer.

The most obvious cause would be the absence of the GD module. You can check this by creating →

All good things are Unix/Linux-based these days…

Microsoft's being dealt some really hard blows the last couple of years. They've lost a lot of customers on pretty much every terrain they're active on. But more specifically: the major part of these migrating customers went towards a Linux- or Unix-based system, although most people won't even be aware of it... Let's look at the facts here: Back in the 90's →

Fixing the Plain Text authentication error in Outlook when using IMAP on Virtualmin

This fix is intended for Virtualmin 3.78.gpl (although it might apply for earlier or later versions) Since I’ve setup my Virtualmin-testcase, I’ve been having some issues with the IMAP (Dovecot) service. The main problem was that the primary user created in a virtual server would function as an IMAP mailbox, however extra added users would result in a →
